Remnant Sale

On April 2, 2014, I organized a slightly impromptu collaborative installation/performance as a post-script to Sandrine Schaefer's three month long ACCUMULATION (PHASE 2) project that had just concluded as a part of the exhibit THE LIGHTNING SPEED OF THE PRESENT at the 808 Gallery at Boston University.

Remnant Sale displayed a collection of objects which had been accumulated in an extremely unusual way (and possibly imbued with power not visible at their surfaces,) offering a final opportunity to be near the entire collection of objects and feel their subtle energies. It was also a means of redistributing them.

I acted as a broker for Sandrine in a series of negotiations with potential new owners of the objects. We offered the opportunity to purchase them to incorporate into new projects; for their pedigree; for their straightforward use value (where applicable); or in exchange for a performance.

Remnant Sale was intended as a means of providing closure for Sandrine's project and also as an exploration of valuation in art within an artistic community. The photos and videos here document the installation and performance, as well as several performances created in partial trade for particular objects.
