All Right!

Commissioned for an exhibition about language diversity in Queens NY, US (Queens is the most language dense place in the world), All Right! was a Karaoke booth that only plays one song: Adriano Celentano's 1972 Italian pop hit, Prisencolinensinainciusol.

The song, which (according to Wikipedia,) sounds like English spoken with an American accent to Italians, is actually complete nonsense except for the phrase "All right" which occurs a few times within the lyrics. I subtitled the video's lyrics and offered gallery visitors the opportunity to attempt to sing along with this unsingable song, as a campy, playful simulation of what communicating in English across significant language barriers feels like.

All Right! was created in collaboration with Ernie Kim.
